**Spring Update: Beginning on March 22, 2010, the Okemo Clocktower day care and snow stars facilities will be closed midweek (Monday through Friday).  However, both programs will operate out of the Jackson Gore base area during this time.  Weekend operations will not be affected. Even kids 4-7 enter snowsports with different ability levels and different attitudes. What brings them together is a desire to have fun. Snow Stars, one of Okemo’s most successful instructional programs, combines superior snowsports education and learning facilities with instructors who know how to help kids have a blast. And Snow Stars programs are accessible from both base areas.

If you're loking for some private ski or snowboard instruction for your child ages 2-7, be sure to check out our Star Booster lesson option. These half-hour lessons are a great way to help your child become more confident.

Learning programs for kids at Okemo Mountain VT

Snow Star Skiers(Ages 4-7)

This is the perfect program to build a base of knowledge, skill, experience, and fun for kids to grow on. Snow Star Skiers have their own beginner teaching slope with two lifts. As they improve, they can venture onto more challenging terrain, riding all 18 of Okemo's lifts.

Young riders of all ability levels learn control and refine skills in these fun, exciting classes. Once Snow Star Riders have acquired basic skills, they can move onto other terrain and experience the true thrill of snowboarding.

*Half-day Snow Stars sessions are offered Monday through Friday, non-holiday only. Sunday Solution Snow Stars sessions are available non-holiday only.

Rentals are not included in the price of any of the Snow Star Programs. Junior skis and snowboards, as well as helmets, are available at the Okemo Rental Shop. Please allow sufficient time to secure rental equipment prior to registration. Read about Okemo's Helmet Policy.


Seasonal Snow Stars

Seasonal participants will be grouped together day after day, week after week all season long.  This gives the children the potential for more comaraderie, more fun, and more adventure! Skiing and riding with the same core group of instructors and peers throughout the season will allow them to feel 'part of the club' and progress with their development throughout the season. Snow Stars Reservation & Cancellation Policy

Reservations are charged in full when booked and are non-refundable. Any change or cancellation requested within 2 days of the lesson date will be charged a fee of 20% of each reservation. Cancellations on the day of will result in a full forfeiture. All balances are good at Okemo for 1 calendar year and can be used around the resort except for culinary and lodging.

Notes for Snow Stars Parents

  • Registration for Snow Stars programs ends promptly at 9:30 a.m. and 12:45 p.m.
  • You will need to fill out a master information sheet for the season, which you can print out now and bring with you - Master Information Sheet.pdf.
  • You will also need to fill out a daily Security Release Form in order to release your child.
  • Proper photo ID is required when you pick up your child.
  • Children's lesson times may include organization time, rest periods, or play time depending on the needs of the children.
  • Late arrival may result in denial of enrollment. Please plan accordingly. Please pick up your children from 12 p.m. – 12:15 p.m. for the morning sessions, 1 p.m. - 1:15 p.m. for Sunday Solution and 3 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. for the full-day or afternoon session.
  • Okemo reserves the right to charge $5.00 for each 15 minutes after your child’s session ends.
  • Instructors are available to discuss students’ progress promptly at 12 noon and 3 p.m.
  • Be sure to secure your rental equipment prior to registration.
  • Proof of your child's age may be required upon check-in.
  • Snow Stars is a Peanut-free environment, with respect to those who are allergic.
  • Lessons and clinics may ski/ride terrain other than those indicated in the lesson/clinic descriptions. Terrain selection is at the discretion of the individual instructor based upon the ability level of the group, as well as trail and weather conditions of the day.
  • All children's programs have been structured by age according to the developmental abilities and needs of children. Please do not try to place your child in a program that is not designed for his/her age group. In order to place your child in a group that will provide the appropriate challenge, please evaluate your child’s ability level realistically, according to the criteria of the individual program.
  • Children in group lessons may need to ride chairlifts with other members of the skiing public or with Okemo staff.
  • Notify Okemo Ski & Ride School staff regarding any special needs including food allergies or dislikes, and any physical or medical considerations.This information should be detailed on the forms required at registration.
  • Warm, waterproof clothing, gloves or mittens, neck warmer, hat, and goggles are all essential equipment.
  • On sunny days, sunscreen and sunglasses are recommended.
  • If a problem should arise with a student on the mountain, on-mountain communication systems will be used to alert you. For your convenience, we also have pagers available for rent at the Penguin Playground Day Care Center.
  • Please allow sufficient time at registration to complete all necessary paperwork.
