What is RSS?

Think about all the information you access on the web each and everyday. What if you could get it all in just one place? That's what an RSS feed can do. In essence, you can subscribe to any website that provides an RSS feed, and get updated content delivered directly to you. RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication - because it creates a really simple way to get "syndicated" information from a source.

How does it work?

An RSS feed is a webpage formatted in xml (extensible markup language) that contains a list of information. It contains no images or fancy formatting. This source is then fed to an RSS reader (or aggregator), that presents the information to you in a list format.

Add an RSS feed

While each aggregator will be a little different - it is very easy to add content. Just click the Okemo Mountain Pressroom: RSS feed button of the feed you'd like to add. Then, just choose your feed reader and follow the prompts on your screen. You might be prompted to set some options, or you might not. Regardless, if the address is a valid RSS URL, you've just added a new feed to your page! It's that simple.

If you don't already use a reader, some of the most common aggregators include MyYahoo, Bloglines, Newsgator, and Google. But there are many, many more. A quick web search will provide many options.
