OKEMO HOSTS 6TH ANNUAL RACE FOR GRACE

LUDLOW, Vt. – On Saturday, June 28, Okemo Mountain Resort will host the sixth annual Race for Grace to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and local charities of the Ludlow Rotary Club. Grace, who was born with Cystic Fibrosis, is the daughter of Jim and Liz Livingston of Ludlow, Vt. Jim is Okemo Mountain Resort’s director of ski patrol.

For the first time, this fundraiser will combine a 5K run/walk with a challenging 5.8-mile uphill bike climb on Okemo’s Mountain Road.  Competitors can participate in one or both events.  Both races will begin at Okemo Mountain Resort’s Jackson Gore Village.

The 5K run/walk is under the direction of Peg Cariddi. Cariddi and her corps of Okemo ski patrol volunteers have raised $45,000 in the past five years.  By adding the bike race, organized by the Ludlow Rotary Club, and under the direction of Glenn Deruchie, the Race for Grace will help increase community awareness and support research for finding a cure for Cystic Fibrosis, the number one genetic killer of children and young adults.

Registration is slated to begin at 7:45 a.m., at the Ice House in Jackson Gore Village. The 5K will start at 9:30 a.m.  The bike climb  is scheduled to get underway at 3 p.m.  Awards and prizes will be presented to winners of each race.  Combined event overall winners will also be recognized. All participants will receive an event T-shirt.
